The Langlands School and College provides an ordered and disciplined environment where our values of honesty, hard work, gentleness, service to others and courage – physical and intellectual – can flourish. We value the life of the mind and we encourage the young people in our care to enjoy learning for its own sake and to pursue truth always.
We are ambitious for our pupils. Expecting all of them to give of their very best in all that they do. Want to give the strong plenty to yearn for and the weaker nothing to run from. Our pupils are encouraged to be tolerant of the ways of other people and yet aware of their own shortcomings.
The school (originally called Sayurj Public School) was started in September 1988, at the request of a group of parents, in order to provide good education in English for local children.
The Langlands School and College education begins in The First School, in Singoor, where we welcome children from the age of four.
At the Junior School, in Jang Bazaar, our pupils build on the foundation laid in The First School, combining hard work with fun.
Set in an idyllic spot in the mountains above Chitral, the Senior Boys’ and Senior Girls’ Schools aim to provide pupils with resources and strength of character to sustain them throughout their lives.
It has created a structure for daily living within which good behaviour is encouraged and supported. We do not believe in having too many rules or unnecessary regimentation. A simple Code of Conduct outlines what we expect from our pupils and their families
The ideal of service to others is fundamental to the school. This concept extends to the mundane areas of everyday life, where all are expected to contribute wholeheartedly to the common good.
This is mindful of its duty to guard resources and to pass on to future generations an inheritance enriched by judicious stewardship. Pupils are encouraged to understand that natural resources must be used conscientiously and that the environment is not theirs to destroy.
